Mazda’s iconic sports car, all-new Mazda MX-5 has continued the success of its predecessors by being named “Best Sports Car for the Money”. The verdict was given by US News & World Report for the Mazda MX-5 Miata, the name of the model in the USA.
The roadster was awarded the title based on its driving performance, cabin comfort, features, reliability and safety. Impartial industry reviews were also taken into account, as were estimated running costs over a five-year period.
Mazda will be particularly pleased with the award, which proves that it has succeeded in its aim for all-new Mazda MX-5. The original model was created to offer motorists an affordable two-seater sports car that was all about pure driving fun, rather than outright pace.
All-new Mazda MX-5 has also received plenty of attention from publications in the UK. Auto Express commented that the KODO: Soul of Motion design language is “sharp” while the interior has been “brought right up to date”. The publication was clearly impressed, stating that “the end result is a brilliant, lightweight sports car that really connects the driver with the road.”
SKYACTIV-Engines help the sports car to deliver a drive that is exciting and economical at the same time, which is why buyers get such great value for money. Two engine options are available depending on the chosen trim. The standard powertrain is a 131ps SKYACTIV-G petrol, and all higher trims offer the same unit but with 160ps. As much as 47.1mpg combined can be achieved by the road-ready racecar.
On top of these responsive and refined engines, buyers enjoy a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, steering wheel-mounted remote controls and 16” silver alloy wheels.
All-new Mazda MX-5 has won fans here and across the Atlantic to prove its worthy status as one of the best models in the class. Find out more about it with a test drive from Hodgson Toyota in Newcastle.
