The rising cost of fuel over recent months means we should be doing all we can to ensure our cars are running as economically as possible.  It is good for your wallet and good for the environment, so some top tips to help you:

 
  • Check your tyre pressures to ensure they are at the right pressure – this can save 5% (the right figures for your car and load are in the handbook)
  • De-clutter your car – extra weight requires extra fuel
  • Moderate your speed and drive smoothly.  Leaving a few minutes earlier can save you both stress and fuel (and avoided unwanted fines) 
  • Drive in the most appropriate gear. Move swiftly in to 5th/6th where possible and avoid racing away from the lights 
  • Don’t over use the air conditioning
  • Close your windows to avoid the extra drag that this can cause
 

One of the areas where you can certainly save money is to ensure your car is serviced correctly as per the manufacturer’s specifications.  Changing air and oil filters when necessary for example are vital.  We have introduced a range of service plans to help ensure that our customers can budget to have their cars serviced when required for a fixed monthly payment – and the even better news is that the cost is inflation proofed at today’s levels, so another opportunity to save money.
