The New Toyota Yaris Hybrid is one of the most fuel-efficient cars on the market today. In addition to its impressive green credentials, the Yaris has plenty of other benefits, from the stylish exterior to a wealth of safety features.
The Yaris Hybrid range starts with the entry-level Active edition, finishing with the top-of-the-range Excel model. The distinctive cross-style front is finished with chrome touches and a black grille on the higher-spec editions. Alloy wheels are standard on all but the Active edition, while daytime running lights and heated door mirrors are provided as standard. The Yaris is available in a range of bright body colours, including the standard Chilli Red. Keyless entry, retractable door mirrors, and a rear spoiler are among the extras available on the Hybrid.
The interior has colourful trim options and sophisticated black upholstery. The cabin offers good headroom and an adjustable steering wheel, which is leather-trimmed on the Excel edition. The Active edition has CD player and radio with MP3 capability, while the Icon edition and upwards have a DAB radio, Bluetooth, and rear-view reversing camera. A USB connection is fitted on all models.
The petrol Yaris Hybrid has a 1.5-litre 100bhp engine which can reach a top speed of 103mph, and travels from 0-60mph in approximately 11.5 seconds. As you would expect from a hybrid, fuel economy is excellent, with the car returning an average 81mpg. CO₂ emissions of just 75g/km mean that you will not be required to pay road tax, helping to reduce the vehicle running costs still further. The Yaris Hybrid’s low level of emissions also means that the car is exempt from the London congestion charge.
The automatic high beam feature provides better visibility in the dark, detecting oncoming cars and lowering the beam automatically as required. Lane departure alert helps to avoid accidents by triggering audio and visual warnings if the vehicle deviates from the lane when the indicator has not been switched on. ABS, stability control and hill-start assist are fitted as standard.
The Toyota Yaris Hybrid has so much to offer that it’s easy to see why the car has been such a huge success since its initial launch in 2012, making up over a third of all Yaris sales across Europe.
