Suzuki enjoyed a successful night at the 2016 What Car? magazine awards as it took home accolades for two of its models. Both the Swift Sport and the Vitara were awarded ‘Best Buy at less than £15,000’, with the Vitara SUV was crowned “Best Car (overall)” in its price bracket.
At around £1,000 less than the top end of the bracket, the Vitara 1.6-litre SZ4 came out on top of all others, and received high praise from the What Car? judges.
“In SZ4 trim the Vitara doesn’t just sneak into this price category; it’s more than £1,000 beneath it. Even then, it comes complete with niceties such as climate control, cruise control, Bluetooth® connectivity and a DAB radio,” commented Jim Holder, What Car? editorial director.
Holder also highlighted the SUV’s “smooth, capable and economical” engine, noting that “our True MPG testers managed to get within 3.9mpg of the official figure”.
He added: “Cargo space is impressive in its size and also accessibility; the boot opening is wide with a low loading lip. The interior is also solidly put together, with piano black trim to add a little class. To top it all, there are also plenty of customisation options. It really is a complete package for very little outlay.”
On top of all this, there is also the option for Suzuki’s ALLGRIP four-wheel drive system on SZ5 models, which is standard in the Vitara S. Selectable drive modes alter the car’s set-up to help drivers tackle snowy routes or muddy tracks with no fuss.
The award-winning Vitara is on sale at Hodgson Suzuki in Newcastle today. You can book a test drive to find out why the What Car? judges were so impressed. Contact us online or by phone to schedule a showroom visit.
